Between the Keys
Between the Keys is a falling-keys music game played on eleven tuning systems from around the world, from Javanese sléndro to twelve-equal. A continuous dial slides between tunings so the keyboard re-proportions live under your eye — the keyboard is the ruler, where each key's position is its cent value and its width is the interval to the next step. In Play mode you tap the lit key; in Listen mode an original phrase loops through whichever tuning the dial rests on, and you drag between systems while it plays. Every cent value is sourced against named references, with a sheet showing the provenance and a cents ruler comparing each tuning against an even twelve-part grid. Silver steps land on the twelve-part grid, brass ones fall between — readable even with the sound off.
